Meet the teachers!

ANDY

I've been teaching since 2003. First in the Costa Brava before joining Cambridge School in 2012.

1) Where are you from?
I'm originally from Dundee, Scotland. It's just over an hour's drive from Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It's known as the 'City of Discovery' because the ship, 'The Discovery' was built there. It took Captain Scott to the Antartic on his doomed expedition to reach the south pole. Dundee is also home to the brand new Victoria and Albert design museum designed by a famous Japanese architect. I'm also a big fan of the once great Dundee United who knocked Barcelona out of the UEFA cup in the 1986/87 season but who are now languishing in the Scottish Championship league.

2) What did you do before becoming an English teacher?
I studied Law at University and briefly worked in a solicitor's office before deciding it wasn't for me. I've also worked in publishing in London among other things.
3) What brought you here?
Love, the usual story. My partner's family emigrated here from Argentina many years ago and we decided to start a family here. We have an eight year old daughter called Aila.

4) What is it like living/working here?
Fantastic. I live in the Costa Brava and I'm surrounded by beautiful mountains and beaches. It's only an hour's drive to the Pyrenees and the south of France, too.
5) What do you do in your free time?
I love singing. I used to sing in a choir in Sant Feliu de Guixols called 'Cypsella' and have recently joined the CS Sant Celoni choir.. I also love to act and often appear in the school panto. I do yoga twice a week which helps me relax. My friends have a converted water mill in the French Pyrenees near Canigou and we often go there to chill out.
